If you are an indy filmmaker, you are most likely on a tight budget where every $$$ saved can make a difference. Of course if you are anything like us (and by that we mean “cheap”), the last thing you want to do is ‘waste’ your hard earned/found/borrowed money on lawyers. We all been there where you need a specific template for a contract or an option and to save money, you hit up all your industry contacts in your rolodex to see who can help out, thinking you are just gonna fill in the blanks and it should be “good to go”… Well, being an indy film-maker does often require you to master just about every aspect of film-making and we do applaud your confidence, but in reality that “A” you may have gotten in Business Law 101 class 10 years ago does not mean you are supposed to be an expert (especially at entertainment) laws, so at some point you really should get actual legal advice to make sure everything is in order since we all know Hollywood just looooves to sue people for just about anything, so let’s not give them free ammunition! However if you absolutely must have a template quickly, you are in luck! Thanks to the guys @ FilmMaker IQ now you can find some of the most widely used Film Contracts and Forms for FREE! They were kind enough to take the time and effort to create a huge list of some 588 Documents you as an inspiring Film-maker might need. Please do keep in mind that the forms (as good as they might be) are no replacements for legal advice.
